Peer Support Specialists are people living in recovery with a history of a mental illness or substance use disorder. They provide support to individuals who can benefit from their life experience. All of our specialists have received training and credentialed by the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialists Program.

Increased demand for PSS services.
During the last three years CHCS has experienced an increasing demand for peer support services. As the chart below illustrates we provided services to 153 persons in 2018, 200 in 2019. As of this time, 220 persons are receiving PSS services with certified peer support specialists contracted with Cottage.
